Golden Tao
About This Spot
Stepping into Golden Tao feels like discovering a well-kept secret in Manchester’s bustling Amory Street neighborhood. This cozy, unpretentious spot invites you to slow down and savor a quieter kind of comfort, where warm lighting and friendly faces set the tone for a relaxed meal or a convenient order to-go. The rhythm here is steady and easy, shaped by the hum of familiar conversations and the subtle clatter of dishes being prepared fresh behind the scenes.
Golden Tao’s atmosphere carries a reassuring sense of tradition, quietly blending the homely with the authentic. It’s the sort of place locals return to not only for the flavors but for the steady, personal kindness of its owner and staff—people who remember your preferences and offer a smile as genuine as the carefully crafted dishes they serve.
The food here is a thoughtful balance between bright, bold spices and comforting familiar tastes, offering a small voyage into Mandarin flavors that linger pleasantly long after the meal ends. Whether you’re settling in with a meal or picking up a carefully packed order to enjoy at home, each bite reflects a connection to purpose and craft—warm scallion pancakes or a perfectly kissed sweetness in the orange chicken, for example, feel like little celebrations of texture and season.
It’s this quiet, steady devotion to both food and guest that cultivates the true feeling of Golden Tao—a neighborhood treasure where each dish tells its own story, inviting you back again and again to sit, share, and savor a carefully curated moment in the everyday.

Best lo mein I've had in NH so far. Chicken was too dry in all of our entrees, but the flavor is so spot on. Beef was fantastic. Overall taste was deep with scallion and ginger thank you jiejie! Curious note: one of the packed sauces looked and tasted like applesauce. New to me for Chinese takeout, but it strangely works.

My family has been going here for years and have never had a less than great experience. All the food is fresh and flavorfull. This place was a special treat for my mom and we would get takeout and dine in pretty regularly. Janet would always remember that she liked hot mustard with her order to go with some of the best vegetable fried rice I have ever had. A few of the less than positive reviews I have seen makes me wonder where they actually ate. I always check peoples' review history when they go hard on a place and many times it is either no reviews or a history of trashing places. This is one of my few go to places in the city for quality and consistency.

I am very happy with the quality and service of this Restaurant, The owner and preparer, Janet is very personable and always remembers her customers, often by name. Chinese food here is excellent, I love general Gau chicken and so many other dishes. Many people order take out. Many Thanks.

Stopped in for a late lunch a few months ago and loved it! Everything was tasty, not greasy, and service was extremely kind!
